REASON ONE: It’s really difficult to choose a ceremony location because there are too many scenic areas to narrow it down. Idaho is home to 20.4 million acres of national forest system land meaning that your perfect spot really is out there. It’s also hard to choose which adventurous activity fits you best because there are SO many possibilities.
Growing up here was like growing up in a magical forest playground. Everything you could want to do is within 10 minutes of town. Fishing, hiking, climbing, skiing, mushrooming, berry-picking, the list doesn’t end. North Idaho is extremely underrated and often overlooked in the elopement space. I live near Kellogg, Idaho, where every single one of my hobbies is quite literally five minutes from my house. The locations I can get you to locally aren’t going to be those lakes you’ve seen in Stanley on Instagram a million times over – no, but they will take your breath away and leave you with a feeling of “Holy sh-, we had no idea this was here.”
Take this spot for example, we rode 4×4’s in the mountains all day to get here for this shoot with absolutely no one around. We listened to music and had the woods all to ourselves. What more can you ask for? The best part? Behind them, is one of the biggest waterfalls I’ve seen in the state – and hardly anyone knows about it.

REASON TWO: Eloping in Idaho is too private, there aren’t enough random bystanders taking photos of you mid-ceremony like there are in national parks.
Seriously though, I love a good national park elopement but the one downside is always dodging tourists. Even with a local guide in a national park, it’s hard to avoid those high traffic volumes during peak seasons. In Idaho, we are literally out in the boondocks making privacy a guarantee. If you have me in your back pocket, I will get you to all the best spots to check off every box on your dream elopement checklist.

REASON THREE: Getting married in Idaho is too easy, it makes you feel guilty for being able to get all of your paperwork the same day you get married. It’s not like other states with waiting periods and other rules.
Idaho Marriage licenses can be obtained the same day as your wedding or elopement, however, I would recommend doing it further ahead of time if possible. A registered officiant will need to be present at your ceremony to sign the license. I am a licensed officiant and can sign your certificate. You will need to have approx. $30 cash for the license, with a little room for any additional fees that may be specific to your county. See more info on the official state marriage site.
