Considering eloping in Hawaii? Read this behind the scenes post to inspire your tropical destination wedding.
I want to help you avoid any hiccups in the wedding planning experience. I’ll do this by sharing the outline of this destination wedding. Along the way, I’ll give you helpful links. I’ll also share a lot of photos to showcase this gorgeous intimate ceremony on Shipwreck Beach in Hawaii.

Hiring a Local Planner
- This couple chose to work with Kauai Island Weddings to reserve their officiant and event coordinator. They were very helpful with the planning process. They ensured all permits and paperwork were readily available. They also provided flowers for the ceremony which was extremely helpful in creating a seamless experience.

Where to Stay
- Our whole crew stayed at Marriott’s Kaua‘i Beach Club, in Līhuʻe, Kaua‘i. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We visited during the last week of March. It wasn’t a surprise that it rained frequently on various parts of the island. In the photo, you can see that there are 5 covered hot tubs surrounding the pool. We were still able to enjoy ourselves despite the rain. There are lots of shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel. If you stay here specifically, I highly recommend going to Duke’s and trying their Hula Pie – just be sure to bring a buddy to share it with…it’s huge.
- Another positive side of staying at Marriott’s Kaua‘i Beach Club is how scenic the garden areas are. We chose to do their first look in the main garden area at the hotel. It couldn’t have turned out any better. We snapped some family pictures by the pond. This freed up a good chunk of time for bride and groom portraits at sunset.

Endless Ceremony Locations
The perk of being on an island is that everywhere you go, it’s going to be gorgeous. There are SO many different beaches you can get married at in Kauai alone. I’ll link some of the most accessible ones below.

my thoughts
Getting married by running off to a scenic destination isn’t for everyone. However, I think it was the perfect outcome for these two. We had a week filled with adventures, family time, and hula pie…what more can you ask for? The best part about having an intimate ceremony is that you don’t lose the big party. You still celebrate with all your extended friends + family. These two eloped and hosted a party four months later to celebrate.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Your wedding ceremony and celebration should reflect YOU. Make sure your day includes whatever or whoever it needs to be memorable. Regardless of what anybody else says 😉
“Emma was such a dream to work with!! She made it easy from day one to book, schedule, and communicate about our wants and needs. She was great at helping us pose & loosen up, which was helpful because my spouse and I both feel awkward in front of the camera. She made it so fun and the pictures turned out beautiful! Highly recommend!!!”
