How to Plan Your Destination Wedding in Hawaii

I’m here to help you avoid any hiccups in the wedding planning experience by simply sharing the outline of a previous client’s destination wedding. Along the way, I’ll provide helpful links and of course LOTS of photos to showcase this gorgeous intimate ceremony on Shipwreck Beach on Kauai.

These two chose to work with Kauai Island Weddings to reserve their officiant and event coordinator. They were very helpful in assisting with the planning process as well as making sure all permits and paperwork were readily available. They also provided flowers for the ceremony which was extremely helpful in creating a seamless experience.

where to stay

Our whole crew stayed at Marriott’s Kaua‘i Beach Club, in Līhuʻe, Kaua‘i. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We visited during the last week of March so it wasn’t a surprise that it rained frequently on various parts of the island. In the photo, you can see that there are 5 covered hot tubs surrounding the pool. Although we were bummed out about the rain we were still able to enjoy ourselves outside. There are numerous shops and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. If you stay here specifically, I highly recommend going to Duke’s and trying their Hula Pie – just be sure to bring a buddy to share it with…it’s huge.

scenic garden

One of the many advantages of staying at Marriott’s Kaua‘i Beach Club is the stunning garden landscapes. We opted to have their first look in the hotel’s main garden area, and the results were absolutely perfect. Additionally, we captured some lovely family photos by the pond, which allowed us to dedicate ample time for the bride and groom portraits during sunset.

A Thought to Consider

Remember, you don’t have to schedule your bride and groom portraits on the same day as your wedding. You can turn this photo session into an adventure. How about a scenic helicopter ride in your wedding attire or a picturesque waterfall hike? Hawaii’s breathtaking scenery deserves more than just one beach for your bridal photos!

endless ceremony locations

The perk of being on an island is that everywhere you go, it’s going to be gorgeous. There are SO many different beaches you can get married at in Kauai alone. I’ll link some of the most accessible ones below.

conclusion

No matter what your wedding ceremony + celebration may look like, make sure your day reflects YOU and has whatever or whoever it needs to make it memorable. Regardless of what anybody else says 😉
